Meet Dr. Hughes

_DSC0043sm.jpgDr. Diane Hughes, an orthodontic specialist, traded the skyscrapers of New York City for the open vistas of New Mexico in 2007. Dr. Hughes loves living in New Mexico and especially enjoys being part of Rio Rancho’s Cabezon community.

Dr. Hughes earned her dental and orthodontic degrees from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was the recipient of numerous academic awards. Dr. Hughes operated her practice in Manhattan, where she treated patients of all ages with a variety of orthodontic needs. In addition to her practice, Dr. Hughes was a faculty member of the Orthodontic Department of New York University School of Dentistry and the Dental Department of New York Presbyterian Hospital and Albert Einstein Yeshiva University. While in New York, she was chosen to represent the American Association of Orthodontists, appearing on the Today Show and CNN news.

Dr. Hughes and her son, Gregory, who is in college, enjoy skiing and scuba diving together. Dr. Hughes enjoys sitting in her backyard, drinking her coffee, in the early mornings with her two dogs;  She is an avid dog lover and rescuer! For many years Dr. Hughes has worked with several dog rescue groups, and she is currently working with A Barking Chance Rescue Group. From time to time, you will see one of Dr. Hughes' foster dogs in the office. What better place for a lucky pup to meet their ‘fur’ever family!

Dr. Hughes is fortunate to work with a highly qualified and caring team. Lynn DiVincenzo, our Treatment Coordinator, has over 20 years experience in the orthodontic field and has been with Dr. Hughes since 2009. Tiffany Pennebaker, our Scheduling and Financial Coordinator, joined Dr. Hughes in 2010. Diane Aragon, our Orthodontic Assistant, has over 25 years in the orthodontic field and has been with Dr. Hughes since 2011. Liz Chavez, our orthodontic assistant, has over 15 years experience. Danielle Baughman, our Marketing and Scheduling Coordinator, has 11 years experience in the administrative and marketing field.

Dr. Hughes and her team enjoy participating in local school and community events. You can see them at fall festivals at Maggie Cordova and Martin Luther King Elementary Schools, and high school sports games, just to name a few. Dr. Hughes supports Rio Rancho community and school teams, and now reads the local sports pages, often seeing her patients’ accomplishments reported.
